Incentive settings

Set up conditions under which shoppers can receive a gift with their purchase.

Setting up gift conditions

Gifts can be offered as an incentive when a customer purchases products.
You must enable the gift option in Settings to use the gift incentive feature.
Once this feature is enabled, gifts will be offered according to preset conditions. The conditions you set are applied across all gift incentives.

  1. Go to Promotions>Incentives>Settings.
  2. Configure the settings to your liking and click Save.

Calculate eligibility

  • Select Based on all products to calculate gift eligibility based on the sum of all product prices in the checkout page.
  • If you select Based on all products, you will be able to choose between basing the calculations on the order total (before discounts) or the actual amount paid (after discounts).
  • Select Based on products with incentives to calculate gift eligibility based on the price of products that are subject to one of the incentives you created.
  • If you select Based on products with incentives, you will only be able to base the calculations on the order total (before discount).

Calculation base amount / Include shipping fee to order total

Order total is the sum of all product prices and shipping fees, before any discounts are applied. You can, however, decide to not include the shipping fee in the calculation depending on your settings.

Calculation scenario - Points used for purchase are included in order total:

  • Gift eligibility = Minimum purchase amount of $19
  • If a $20 product is purchased using $18 in cash, $1 in points and a coupon discount of $1, the amount paid should be $18. However, if you have chosen to include points in the order total, the amount paid becomes $19 and the customer can receive a gift.
  • Gift eligibility = Minimum purchase amount of $20

Calculation scenario - Shipping fees are excluded from calculations:

  • Gift eligibility = Minimum purchase amount of $20
  • If an order is placed for a $17 product with a $3 shipping fee, the amount paid/order total will only be $17 and the customer will not be able to receive a gift.

Gift selection

Allow customers to select

  • Shoppers can choose a gift among a selection of options.
  • You can choose whether to display out-of-stock gifts.
  • Products with multiple options can also be used as a gift in this case. Gift points are deducted according to the selected item.

Automatically select a specific gift

  • A preselected gift is automatically offered to shoppers, without giving them the option of selecting one themselves.
  • If the product you selected as a gift runs out of stock, shoppers will not be given a gift.
  • With Number of gifts allowed, you can also choose whether to give one gift per purchase or one gift per purchased product.

Allow customers to select gifts on

  • Guests accounts will only see gift options that are available to them.
  • They will not be able to see gifts offered to first-time customers or those only available to customer accounts.

My Orders page

  • If a customer has not selected a gift in the checkout page, they can choose one through their order history page before the product is shipped (when their order status is Awaiting payment, Order in progress, Shipment on hold, Preparing for shipment, or Awaiting shipment).
  • Allow customers to select gifts during the specified period only: The "Select gift" button will only appear in their order history page while the incentive is valid.
  • Allow customers to select gifts after the specified period: The "Select gift" button will appear during and after the incentive's validity period so long as the relevant order was placed while the incentive was active.

Note

Please be aware that errors might occur when you select "My Orders page" if you process the shipment at the same time as a customer selects a gift.

Calculating the minimum purchase amount when eligibility is based on products with incentives

  • Gift points are calculated based on the range of "applicable products" selected when creating/editing the incentive.
  • In this case, the purchase amount is considered to be the sum of all the product prices relevant to the applicable product range.
  • Calculation scenario
      • Minimum purchase amount: Gifts are offered for purchases of $70 and above.
      • Products considered as applicable products: Product A, Product B, Product C
  • Purchase amount calculation:
    1.  Customer orders three items of Product A → Gift is given if three times Product A's price is equal to $70 or more.
    2. Customer orders one of each product (Product A + Product B + Product C) → Gift is given if the sum of each of their prices is equal to $70 or more.
    3. Customer orders Product A with Product D (non-applicable product) → Gift is given if Product A's price is equal to $70 or more (Product D is not included in the calculation).
